Mila

What is up? This week was good, Mila got baptized and we had our ward Christmas party. Both were awesome. Zambombas go crazy. They are basically mosh-pits all over town with a ton of drunk people playing the zambomba this weird looking instrument and then guitars and a bunch of other random stuff. But gotta love them.

Mila has been a friend of the church for 10 years now and has lived in Jerez for 4. When I got here I honestly thought she was a member. But after you pick olives off a tree for a long time with a person you learn a lot about them. She is was born in Ukraine in a town right next the the border of Russia. Her dad is Russian. Never knew too much about religion but when she moved to Spain she met a spaniard and got married. After a couple years the husband died from being ill and she was left alone here in Jerez. Her friend who was a member of the church in Madrid told her about her friend, Rocio down here in Jerez. Rocio is also a member and brought Mila into the church, for a while she didn’t get baptized because her daughter said she wouldn't let her see her grandchildren. But after time past and we talked to her about how love takes sacrifice, and about how our Heavenly Father made the greatest sacrifice of love letting His only begotten son die. Taught her about the principle of the difference between loving your family for this life and denying Gods truth for you or loving them for eternity and follow the gospel and be an example for your family. It's a hard choice but Mila made her decision and we are so happy for her.
I won't lie, the party was pretty fun too. Although they made me sing and that wasn't good.  We had empanadas for dinner and then they danced the night away. Til like 3 in the morning. No mom i didn't stay the entire time. We were in piso at the time we were supposed to or at least close.
