We can always choose to be nice
Samyr's Baptism |
This week was definitely special! General conference weekend really went crazy. Because of the time difference we technically can only watch the two first sessions of Saturday and Sunday with people because the other ones are from 10-12 at night so we have to watch them in our apartment. Luckily we got to watch the other 3 sessions with our friends. It's amazing to see as their eyes glow when the spirit speaks to them as they watch the conferences.
Also Samyr got baptized! I'm so happy for him! We've already hung out with him twice afterwards and he seems so much brighter. I can see as the Holy Ghost helps guide and teach him.
Miracle:
So as amazing as Samyr's baptism was, it definitely took some miracles to get there. First we don't have a font here in Molina so we had to go to Murcia to use theirs. So we show up in Murcia extra early and of course we forgot to remember our suits. Anyways that meant we had to drive all the way back to Murcia then change and head back. But because we were back we decided to call Samyr and see how he was doing. Because we did this we got to meet with him and give him clothes to wear after the baptism. Then we went back to Murcia to fill up the font. My comp made our programs and printed them out. We had the perfect amount of paper left in the printer and apparently there wasn't another piece of paper in the entire church. Then we checked on how the font was filling… let's just say it wasn't. We learned that apparently we had it wrong and it would not only take two hours to fill up. So I grabbed a bucket and started filling the font more. Luckily we had other Hermanas there and even a couple of members from their ward. After a little while we had not only the font water going, but also two sinks and a water spigot outside all filling buckets. With 30 minutes left it was looking a lot better, however we were a long way before being able to baptize this man. I said a prayer to God to find a way to make this work. Suddenly as I was walking back this member walks up to me with a hose in his hand. We hooked it up and were able to make it in time. Samyr was able to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. God does miracles. I loved the talk by Elder Bassett if you haven't heard it you should go watch it. It was during the 5th session and it talked about Christ's miracles. One of my favorite parts was the line, "As we move forward with faith in Jesus Christ, the fourth day will always come." Work as hard as we can with our eyes centered on Christ and we will see miracles begin to happen in our lives.
Scripture of the week:
Go watch President Dallin H. Oaks talk in the start of the 5th session. No better scriptures for this week of remembering Christ than those.
To my parents you're lucky I raised you well. All jokes but I'm definitely lucky to have my mom and dad they really have been the biggest influence in my life to get me to where I am today and still help me everyday to learn how to become a better person and a better disciple of Christ. Love you Mom and Dad!
Also… it was my mom's birthday this Sunday so if any of you see her, wish her a happy birthday!
Missing everyone!
Love y'all!!
